Time at Timberline is different. It's hard to put into words. You must experience it to fully understand. First of all, as you drive down the wending road with the leafy canopy overhead, you will begin to sense it . . . time just seems to slow down and so do you. In this sense, the pace is slower here at Timberline where you are surrounded by the beauties of Nature. At Timberline we often describe an experience or a happening as a "Timberline Moment." Once you have been at the resort for just a little while, you will recognize these moments . . . they are special. Maybe it is an exchange of ideas with a newfound friend -- a moment when you realize that you both share a particular feeling about something of value.
It may be an exhilarating experience on one of the nature trails. Maybe you discover a wildflower you haven't seen blooming in a long time. You might come upon one of Mother Nature's little woodland creatures and have the delight of being a casual observer.
A "Timberline Moment" may be yours as you sit alone quietly in the little Crossties Chapel tucked away in the woods. Maybe it will be at sunrise as you welcome a new day while looking to the heavens through the sunlit stained glass that points its way upward. You will feel it in your inner being and you will know.
In a practical sense, the time of day may come as a surprise to you the first time you come to Timberline. Though we are in the middle of Tennessee, we are approximately thirty miles west of the time zone line dividing Eastern Time and Central Time. This may come as a surprise to our visitors from the east and to some from north of Timberline.
So when you are planning your first visit with us and are really looking forward to a "Timberline Moment" of your own, remember that our office hours and announced hours of events are Central Standard Time. And whatever time you come, we wish you many a "Timberline Moment."
To get to Timberline Resort: From I-40 take Exit 311 (Plateau Road). Go south 1 mile to Highway 70N; turn left and go 7/10 mile. The Timberline entrance will be on your left.
